Brief Summary:

Pros:

  1. Very Detailed
  2. Very Good Posability
  3. Many weapons

Cons:

  1. Arms cannot hold the GN blade properly for some poses
  2. V fin snaps easily
  3. Bad balance
  4. Loose parts
  5. Shoulder beam sabers connectors are fragile

This 1/100 scale Exia has a different design from the 1/144 and 1/60 as they are based on two different versions of the design.

Build Quality

This Exia is really solid. No parts creak at all, and the weight of this kit actually feels good. It feels as great as it looks! However, I do recommend that you get a Celestial Being display base as this kit is meant to do dynamic poses! However, some parts may fall off from time to time, so you will need glue. Rubbery plastic was also used for the purple cables instead of stickers. The GN capacitors are done with clear plastic and stickers, just like its 1/144 counterpart. The plastic seems to be of a higher quality. Panel lines fill up most of the body, so take your time to finish them!

Arms

The shoulder armour do not clip on to the shoulder itself, instead, it can rotate freely. However, the purple cable that runs from the armour to the shoulder will obstruct its movement to about 90 degrees. Gotta be careful not to tear the rubber cable! One beam saber is docked behind each shoulder. By rotating the shoulder backwards, you can actually pose Exia drawing out the GN beam daggers!

The elbow joints are not tight enough to support the weight of the arm when the GN blade is fully extended, if not the weight of the GN blade will cause the whole arm to point downwards. A really bad flaw there perhaps?

There are 3 manipulator included: 2 fists for holding weapons and a spread out palm for the left hand.

Body

The body houses the huge GN capacitors on the front and the GN drive at the back. Clear plastic is used to cover the green sticker of the GN capacitor. The GN drive can be removed, so yes, that’s a nice gimmick. The chest vents are able to wriggle around a bit for extra posability. At the top of the torso, there are two yellow antennas that can folded up. At the pelvis, there are two GN beam sabers. They can be folded upwards then outwards to replicate the action pose.

Legs

The legs are amazingly flexible. As the hip joint to the thigh is a sphere, the legs can do a full 360 rotation. Side splits are also possible. However, one regrettable thing about the front skirts is the fact that they obstruct the thigh too much. The knees are also double jointed, howver, the upper joint in the knee has a very limited range of motion. The ankle armour will rotate. The feet are split into two and feature a genuine bending motion in the middle, unlike the red frame. As the area of the feet are rather small and due to the weight of the kit with all weapons equipped, the kit will topple over easily in action poses.

Weapons

A key feature of this kit is the array of swords included.

The seven swords system comes with:

  • GN Blade ( The 12 cm long blade)
  • GN Sword
  • GN Dagger
  • 2 x GN Beam Sabers
  • 2 x GN Beam Daggers

The GN blade docks onto the arm via a forearm connector and the pistol grip. The pistol grip can fold backwards 90 degrees, allowing the sword to be held like any other conventional sword. This sword is really big! However, you will find that you need to paint it as it comes molded in grey only. I have painted it with a chrome gundam marker, as seen in the pictures.

The GN sword and dagger docks onto optional hip connectors on each side of the hip. They are molded in white, but again, I have painted them.

That’s it for this review!
