1. Amazing Posability
2. Interesting GN Sword/ Rifle design
Cons:
1. Comes with only two complete weapons; the rest of the weapons are to be bought with the 1/144 O Raiser
2. V Fin requires is not molded in right colours
3. Forearms do not have a docking point for the GN Sword II’s rifle butt
Update: Bandai has released the 1/144 00 Raiser with newly redesigned stickers similar to the 1/60 Exia & some decals included. Go get that instead! It’ll be out inf Feb 09.
My friend once mentioned to me that he wanted to an exia mod but was not really sure how to do the face. After thinking about it for a minute, I thought it would be actually fun to try out the mod and voila, it actually got completed in just an hour ^ ^!
Weathering
The weathering of this kit was particularly tedious. The method I used was to file tiny grooves in the armour and rubbing a charcoal pill over these grooves to make charcoal dust to sit into them to give that grimy look. The filing process was particularly tedious as it had to be thorough, or else the dirty look would not be consistent. To finish off the weathering, I carved a few deep grooves randomly on the armour to make some contrast to the thinner grooves in order to create the effect of battle scars.
Face & Head
The plastic for the mouth and the eyes is a single red component, so having the red eye was easy; I’d simply snipped off the right side of the face plate and coloured the mouth and eye piece black except for the eye. Simply snip of the right antennae to the right length to achieve the desired effect
Missing Right Shin Armour
The 1/144 Exia’s shin armour is a single component in itself. However, there is a connector. Snipping off the connector and doing weathering on the connector covered up the obvious nip mark.
Damaged GN Sword
The gn sword was rather easy to complete, as you simply had to snap of the front end of the blade and cutting out a small block from half of the horizontal axis of the sword.
Pelvis GN Blade Rack
The white cap of the gn blade holster was to be removed and the flat surface on the edge of the semi-circle of the holster was removed to accomodate the protruding edge of the connector. The GN Sword sat into the holster nicely.
That’s it, the battle damaged exia mod is completed!
